Galapagos - Day 1

Not too early a start today. The flight had been changed to a later one, but one which avoided a touch down in Guayaquil. Lots of entrance formalities in the Galapagos - entrance tax, bag searches (for plant and animal material), sterilisation of bags on the aircraft etc. After meeting our guide, we took a short ferry ride across the channel to be met by our bus.
We then drove across the island to our lunch stop. There are unusual traffic hazards in the Galapagos islands!

After lunch we visited the Charles Darwin Research centre, where we met some of the residents - including the most famous -Lonesome George.

Finally we walked to the dock, spotting Sally Lightfoot crabs and trying to avoid treading on the iguanas!

A short Panga ride and we were on our boat, Isabela II which is home for the next 5 days.
